2 nights TGV route to Paris

Bonjour!
We have quite a filled 18 day trip coming up, last minute.
So far we have:
London 2 nights
Eurostar to Paris
Paris, 4 nts
TGV to Avignon
Avignon 1 nt
St Rémy 3 nts
Aix 2 nts
Cassis 1 nt
Villefranche sur Mer 1 nt,
Back to Avignon TGV and encourage to Paris.

We can book 2 more nights in Paris, or stop anywhere (north of Lyon) enroute.
We’ve never stopped at any of those towns: Dijon, etc: and we’ve never been to the Champagne area.
Any advice? We don’t mind renting a car at the station. Or just back to Paris.? Out Eurostar back to London leaves from there. (We Havent been to Europe in 15 years… we are happy to zip around!,
Merci bien!!

Bonjour!

I hate to be that guy, blame the Parisian in me, but it makes little sense to drive all the way to Villefranche sur Mer just for one night, in my opinion. If you have two extra days, spend them there! There is a ton to do around Nice.
I would also not split my stay between Avignon and Saint Rémy, the two towns are 20 min apart. Just keep Saint Rémy with a car.
Last but not least, you can take the train back from Nice, no need to backtrack to Avignon.

Merci, our car gets returned to the Avignon station, I think. We can double check that. Rooms are tough to find in Villefranche but I’ll try to add one more. Isn’t Cassis a good spot to stay for a beautiful day and night.
