Can anyone verify one way or the other the validity of the 2 day ,48 hour pass? Could one use it first on Wednesday at 6:30 pm and have it still valid at 6 pm on Friday? Which would be within 48 hrs , but it would be the third calendar day. Thanks!
That should work but you can't be late on the Friday visit :)
This doesn't respond to your question but it's an observation. The lines I saw to get into the Louvre and other favorite attractions were so long that you have to time your entries correctly or you won't be able to see enough museums to break even. Be sure the Louvre is first thing in the morning, while smaller, less visited museums are in the afternoon. I was also able to enter immediately at 6 pm during the Orsay Museum evening hours, so evening hours are another time saver in the midst of the crowds. Be sure you have your reservations lined up in advance.
I haven't been to Paris in ages, but I've used that technique a couple of times in other cities. However, I'm so slow when visiting museums that it's a rare museum pass that pays off for me.
Museum Pass terms have been change from days to hours, such as a 2 day pass is now a 48 hour pass.
The Louvre requires a reservation so your entry time there should be known in advance.
I actually disagree with Bets. . We did the Lourve on Friday evening, and it was great. All the groups and “selfie fans” who had to race to Mona had already been there and raced on to their next attraction.
Yes, absolutely you can use it that way. Last time I got the pass I entered my first museum at about noon on Day 1 and entered my last museum at about 1030 on what would have been "Day 7" of my 6-day Museum Pass. As noted above they go by the hours not really by the "day" number at present. Your pass bar code is scanned each time you go into a museum so that is how they keep track of the hours.
I didn't find Paris museums to be all that expensive, relatively, so I didn't bother with a pass
If your museum visit is on a Friday, it's best to visit the Louvre in the late afternoon since it closes at 9:45pm on Fridays (6pm on other days). To get the most out of your 48 hr pass, hit the smaller museums in the morning and the Louvre in late afternoon.
In Rick's guide he has a very complete and necessary guide to what museums are open on what days and what times. It really matters in Paris, it's quite possible you could not be able to see the museum of your choice during your stay. I had to write it down on a calendar.
@Phread - I actually did a googledoc with information from the Museum Pass website with the closure days. Most are either Monday or Tuesday but it's also good to know which of the private museums are open on those days to fill in. Since it's on googledocs I always have it on my phone when I am in Paris if I suddenly have some spare time!
