2 1/2 Days in Lyon - which Day Trip do you recommend?

To give you an idea of our trip, here's the locations I have reservations:
Venice - 3 nights
Vicenza - 1 night
Parma - 2 nights
Torino - 2 nights
Annecy - 3 nights
Lyon - 3 nights
Paris - 4 nights

In Lyon, we're staying in the Vieux Lyon area, and I had planned that we would purchase the Lyon Card & explore the city all day Saturday & Sunday. But, I'm finding some interesting day trip possibilities - the Musee Gallo-Romain at Vienne or medieval Perouges. We arrive Friday from Annecy at 1pm. We've been to Ostia Antica at Rome and explored it for a half day. I'd be interested to hear from people who have seen the Musee Gallo-Romain & have also been to Perouges. Should we try to do both, one preferred over the other, stay in Lyon?

Vienne is fantastic -- if you read up beforehand or have one of their TI's energetic guides to show you around.
It was a significant player in the medieval church's developments, for instance, Pope Clement outlawed the Knights Templar there in the cathedral in the 13th century. The city had interesting periods before and after, too.

I also think the the Lyon Card is one of the better museum & transport deals in the region, but with limited time you can only run through the fine arts museum; it deserves a long look!

There's so much to see in Lyon, I wouldn't recommend a day trip when you're only there for 2 1/2 days. I've been to Perouges, and spent a few hours there. It was enjoyable, but when I've visited Lyon I've always stayed in Lyon.

We were in Lyon 3 nts for our first time and one day our friends took us to Perouges. It was very nice, but because we did that, we missed seeing the fine arts museum. There is lots to see and do in Lyon. I would just concentrate on that because I now have to go back...which really isn't a bad thing either. If you do go to Perouges, wear good, flat shoes for cobblestones. There is one little restaurant and a gift shop. The paper shop was fun too. Also, keep your valuables with you..don't leave them in the car.
