1st night in Paris and Rue Mouffetard

Hi all:
2 questions!

  1. We are staying near Rue Mouffetard and would like to wander around there... Tuesday morning 10am-ish? Wednesday better?

  2. We arrive Sunday afternoon from west coast, 3pm-ish to hotel I think, and I want to walk up to the river and Notre Dame (might try Vespers 5:45pm, but might fall asleep)... looking for a 7pm dinner near Notre Dame, or Rue Mouffetard... some reviews seemed to say Sunday nights were lively on Rue Mouffetard? But market supposedly closes noon-ish on Sundays... good restaurants there?

Anyone have the inside scoop or recommendations?

Thanks!!!!

We had an apartment near Rue Mouffetard and found a wonderful restaurant in the area. It was our favorite out of a 5 night stay. It is very small so you would likely need reservations - Bistrot L' estrapade!! Yum! I want to go back!

Edit: It is closed on Sundays....too bad. I hope you can make it there another night.

Too bad its not football season, you could watch the Packers game at WOS on Rue St Jacques.

Le Petit Chatelet is right across the river from Notre Dame on the Left Bank next door to Shakespeare & Co. It has a nice view of ND from the terrasse. 7PM is early for dinner in Paris, so you may not need a reservation, but it doesn't hurt to have one anyway.

Thé shops on rue Mouffetard normally close for lunch during the week, then re-open around 4:30 or 5.
There is virtually no différence between going on Tuesday or Wednesday, unless a particular shop is closed that day.

Shops open around 8 AM on Sunday and will close anytime between 12:30 and 1:30.

Brasserie Balzar is a place not far from the Cluny where we had a very nice dinner one evening. They are open 7 days. It is always good to reserve. If a small place is reserved full, they won't give away an empty table at 7 that is reserved at 8.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into those. :)

We don't arrive in Paris until Sunday afternoon, so sadly we will miss the Sunday morning festivities!

Thanks!
