Hello,
I posted about this trip a couple of weeks ago but since that time has passed and I made a lot of changes , I thought i should again. I've been to Paris before but never anywhere else in France. I won't have a car so am reliant on public transportations and already looked up some train times which are accurate for right now and hopefully will be when i decide to go in May. I haven't finalized the dates yet. I have the itinerary below and here are some questions. Thanks in advance for anyone offering any advice, really appreciate it!
Is giverny (monet's house in particular) more a day trip or a half day trip?
for day 13, is it possible to visit all three sites in the same day using public transportation? how would you organize it? Maybe i can move one of the sites to the next day and combine it with aix en provence? Rick Steves has the itinerary as starting in Arles and being "Train to Nîmes (30 minutes), then bus to Pont du Gard (50 minutes) to explore the ancient aqueduct, then bus to Avignon (50 minutes) and spend your afternoon/evening there (consider dinner). Return to Arles by train (30 minutes; sleep in Arles)". In general for nights 12 and 13, for nights 12 and 13, should i base myself in arles instead of avignon? (and adjust itinerary accordingly). As I said, Rick Steves prefers Arles. He also has les baux as a red "must visit". https://www.ricksteves.com/europe/france/itinerary
maybe I should remove aix en provence completely and replace it with something else? Or just use that day to make day 13 easier.
