We are 2 families of 9 people (5 grown children ages 19-24) staying in Nice from December 28 through January 3 and are looking for recommendations for day trips. I know that some small towns and villages may be very quiet in the winter, so we are looking for areas that might be a little more alive with activity. We will not have a car, so will be traveling by train or bus. Also any suggestions for New Year's Eve would be welcome!
Along the coast things are open and active. You may not find beach umbrellas at open beach front cafes, but the towns are buzzing. Expect some fireworks on the beaches on New Year's Eve. There are even Christmas markets along the Riviera.
Thank you, Bets. If you had to pick 3 or 4 towns along the coast to visit that time of year, which ones would you choose?
