I'm arriving at CDG at 7:30am on Saturday and am considering an escorted tour of the Louvre at 9:45am. Any thougths or suggestions if this is doable? I'm farely young and have read several posts that to overcome jetlag, fresh air and movement are a must. Thanks
Gosh, that's cutting it pretty close if your plane arrives on time and if you get through immigration quickly and then into Paris and to your hotel to check in/leave your bags. To be on the safe side, I'd schedule the tour a couple of hours later.
I agree that it would be a difficult thing to manage. What if your plane lands late? Or it takes awhile to get through immigration and customs? Where are you staying? Will you be able to leave your luggage early? You can't just show up with it at the Louvre. I agree that giving yourself at least two more hours would be more reasonable.
Thanks for the replies. I'm staying at the Mercure Paris Centre Eiffel Towel. I will look at other times available and into the storage possibilities at the Louvre.
Sounds like a plan. Bon voyage!
I agree that 9:45 is cutting it too close. I also wonder, even though you're young, how helpful an indoor museum tour would be against jet lag. Not the freshest air, no sunshine, a lot of standing around while someone talks about artworks and you try to pay attention and stay awake. For me it would be a bad combination of not enough stimulation and, at the same time, not wanting my mind to wander from the presentation. I guess going to a movie would be worse, but being outside moving around would be best.
Don't know how much time you have in Paris and whether you can take the Louvre tour another day. I'm sure it would be worthwhile, just not sure your first day is the best investment. But, as discussed in another recent thread, people often have very different reactions to overnight flights, and you may be one of the lucky ones!
