Hi all! Has anyone been to Deauville, France? On the beach. About two hours from Paris.
Is it worth visiting for a day? Is the beach nice?
Thanks!
Deauville has been a ritzy resort town for a couple hundred years. The town is tidy and attractive. It has a casino. The beach is wide, the sand coarse, the water cold. I think I've seen more people using the beach on the Trouville side of the river.
Deauville is not so big, so if it’s just for sightseeing it’s better to combine it with exploring the country-side and for instance a visit to Honfleur. The area is known for it’s stunningly beautiful half-timbered houses, a bit more inland also Vieux Deauville has nice spots with it. If you can combine it with other activities, like a visit to the beach, diner etc. it’s possible to have a nice daytrip from Paris to my opinion.
Thanks very much!
Sounds like maybe I should save the beach for Miami! And just enjoy Paris!
Unfortunately we don't have any suggestions about Deauville either since we don't cover it in our guidebooks. As mentioned though, Honfleur is a good daytrip. You can take a train to Deauville but you'd have to connect by bus to Honfleur.
