I'm doing the RS My Way Alpine Tour in July. It ends with two nights in Chamonix, France. I have an extra day before I fly back and am wondering whether I should spend another day in Chamonix or take the early train to Lausanne and spend the day and night there.
In either case, I have to be at the Geneva Airport the next day for a fairly early flight.
It depends on how outdoorsy you are! If you aren't then you'll run out of things to do in Chamonix quite quickly - the town isn't large and unless you are a shopaholic you'll run out of things to do. If you are an outdoorsy person you could spend a few weeks! The hiking, paragliding, and other mountain sports are spectacular and the views are unmatched!
Lausanne and the other towns along the north shore of Lake Geneva, Vevey and Montreux, offer plenty to see. It really just depends on your preference and what you like to do!
