I was unable to buy tickets online (sold out?). Anyone know if we get to the Eiffel Tower when it opens if we'll be able to take the elevator all the way up without having purchased tickets in advance? Any other information you have would be helpful.

Yes of course you can always get in lines and get a ticket.. they only sell a very few pre purchase time slot tickets.. the rest of those who want to go up are in line. Go before it opens.
OR take stair,, seperate and shorter line up .
Or check website again and check off " to second level".. you can then line up on second level to get tickets to top( but I wouldn't bother)

Annie, if you really have only 12 hours in Paris I wouldn't recommend waiting in any lines you can avoid. Settle for one of the lower ET levels or consider the Tour Montparnasse as an alternative.
