1 week Bayeux and Amboise. Incorporate Mont-Saint-Michel? If so, how?

Day trip from Bayeux, overnight near MSM, stop enroute to Amboise? Any reason to want to drive Bayeux straight to Amboise vs. Bayeux/MSM/Amboise? Thanks

take it as a day trip make the decision after you see how the other stuff you already planned goes; we all have made the mistake of planning and trying to see too much

You could do it either way. I'd probably do it as a day trip, simply to avoid checking into and out of another hotel just for a one night stay.

It takes right at an hour and a half to drive to MSM from Bayeux. I liked everything about it. Just avoid the busiest part of the day (especially if you're in high season) or you may not like it at all. From there I didn't go straight to Loire, I did a loop of Brittany first. Via michelin guesses a trip from MSM to Amboise at about 4 hours, my daily limit. Closer to 5 if you go south through Saumur. If you have some time, Chinon is a good stop - much different than the luxurious Loire. Fontevraud Abbey is also interesting and different from typical Loire valley chateaux.
