1 Navigo easy card or 2?

I read the posting by lisa.fritscheI on 04/16/26 regarding Navigo, RER B & CDG but I'm still confused.
I Have a Navigo easy card. Can I put both Metro/train/RER tickets AND bus/tramway tickets on my 1 Navigo easy card? AND can I put a one way or round-trip Paris to CDG ticket on the same Navigo easy card? It seems to me that I read some time ago that one would need to have 2 separate Navigo easy cards to do this. Is the Paris airport train ticket (€14) the same as ticket Paris region airports? Thanks everyone for your help.

The diagram on this page labeled "Cohabitation of tickets on a Navigo Easy pass" is the easiest way to answer your questions. So:

  • ✅ Metro/Train/RER tickets and Bus/Tram tickets can coexist on the same Navigo Easy card.
  • ✅ Bus/Tram tickets and an Airport ticket can coexist on the same Navigo Easy Card
  • ❌ Metro/Train/RER tickets and an Airport ticket CANNOT coexist on the same Navigo Easy Card. Note that even if you buy and use up an Airport ticket, there is a 4-hour "cooling off" period before you can buy Metro/Train/RER tickets.

You can either buy 2 Navigo Easy cards, or buy 1 Navigo Easy Card and buy the other ticket on your phone (e.g. load your Navigo Easy Card with Metro/Train/RER and Bus/Tram tickets, and then just buy an Airport ticket on your phone).

Is the Paris airport train ticket (€14) the same as ticket Paris region airports?

Yes, these are the same thing.

Hi. Just back from Paris in the 21st. We used our iPhones and downloaded the transit app. It copies over all the tickets from your card and lets you purchase the airport train/metro tickets concurrently. You just use your iphone,Apple Watch or Android device to access the gates. Easiest way to purchase and use ticket in my opinion.

It may make a difference, when you got your navigo card and if there's anything already on it (easy to check at home using your phone and NFC in the app.) We had navigo easy cards with remaining tickets purchased in Nov 2024 - these tickets were good for both metro and bus. I couldn't add train tickets to the card until those had been used, but I could add a bus ticket I added one bus ticket, and couldn't add a 2nd until I used the first, but could add it to the phone app. Note, I don't have an account on the app because you can't make an account with a US based phone number on your own. I read on their website that you can go to a customer service desk in a metro station to ask for help setting up an account, but didn't try that as it was easy enough to use the cards we had and the phone app. I had emailed before hand and got confirmation that my previously purchased tickets (T1+?) will be good until used. At least as of this spring, no expiration date has been set.

Thanks so much everyone for your input! Sorry about the delay in responding. My husband twisted his knee rather badly and we've spent pretty much all our time dealing with that. Thank you, Aaron for your advice regarding cohabitation of tickets. The diagram was indeed helpful. On the site I saw 2 prices for the various tickets, one was discounted. But I could not find the qualifications for a discounted ticket. Any chance I could get the discounted price for 2 seniors? Probably not, but I just thought I'd ask. The site seemed to offer a way to check my current Navigo easy cards to see if I had any tickets remaining but I couldn't quite figure it out. I would imagine the best thing to do would be to buy 2 new Navigo easy cards at the airport, load them each with than airport ticket and then use my current Navigo easy cards to add RER and bus tickets. I understand why people find loading tickets on their phones the easiest way but I'm wary of having my phone out much in public. Again, many thanks to all.

I did get the sncf app to read my navigo easy cards and tell me my balance and buy more tickets on them. But I think you can check them at a machine, too.

Thanks for the suggestion, pbscd . I have two SNCF apps on my phone. One is SNCF connect. The other is called SNCF. I’ve tried to find how I would check my Navigo easy card but cannot find it on either app. Could you tell me which app you use and how to get there? I very much appreciate your help.

I used the SNCF connect app.
Then go to tickets
Then Paris and its region
Then With Your pass
Then it will want you to set your pass on the back of your phone to read it. You can also buy tickets this way.

The only discounted seats available to tourists are half price tickets for children 4-9. There are no discounts for senior tourists (and why would French taxpayers be subsidizing wealthy foreign travelers?). Local students, seniors etc have access to passes designed for them.

And yes bus and metro tickets can be on the same card. But the airport tickets have to be on a 'clean card' that has had no metro tickets on it for 4 hours at least. (bus tickets can co-exist)

Many thanks, pbscd! I appreciate the detailed instructions and will certainly try that. And thanks, Janet. Your information, as always is helpful.
