1 and 1/2 days in Burgundy

We are going from Paris to Beaune on a Saturday morning May 30th, hopefully on the fast train, and leaving from Dijon on a night train the next day, Sunday. This gives us 1 1/2 days in Burgundy, without a car. I need some itinerary suggestions because I think most of the places are closed on Sunday. We like tours if you know of a good tour guide/company for our short time there. I know the market in Beaune is suppose to be great, but it will be almost over by the time we arrive.

if you search on line for wine tours out of Beaune you will find many options; the one I looked at was quite pricey for an all day tour of wineries, but it was open on Sundays. I am sure if you search you will find something that works.

Pam, this will be a wonderful time of the year to visit Burgundy.

The following is not for everyone, but you can rent bicycles in Beaune and there is no more delightful way to visit the vineyards. Distances and difficulties vary, but the bike shop can advise you. Famous wine towns like Pommard and Meursault are quite close by.

There are also some very interesting wine opportunities in Beaune, and other attractions (Hotel Dieu, La Rochepot chateau).

I 2nd the bike excursion. Get a picnic and follow the easy route around the local vineyards - then reward yourself with a great dinner.

Two years ago, I spent 4 days in Beaune instead of the 2 I had planned simply because it grew on me. I strongly recommend the Hotel Dieu, a hospice dating to the 1400s. Even the tiniest bistrot offers 2 dozen wine varieties by the glass. Worth a ramble.
