We recently stayed at Mas Perreal, a 15-minute walk from St Saturnin and 15-minute drive from Apt, in the eastern Luberon. They receive a nice mention in Rick’s Provence and the French Riviera guidebook and are well reviewed on Trip Advisor, but I have found next to nothing about them on this site’s forum. We stayed there for a week in January and can confirm all the good things previously written (except for the breakfasts, not available in winter). We could not have been more pleased. Not mentioned in Rick’s Guide are the kitchen facilities they have recently incorporated in two of their rooms, the possibility of taking French lessons from Elisabeth nor the wonderful guidebook to the area written by their friends who had lived in Lourmarin for ten years. http://www.masperreal.com/
Being in the eastern end of the Vaucluse Valley, the area is far less crowded than the Roussillon/Ménerbes axis, yet all the more well-known sites are within easy driving distance. In Apt, the local wine co-op has a plethora of choices. If desired, there is a large shopping complex conveniently nearby and the largest open market in the valley is on Saturday morning. Within Apt we found a friendly organic (Bio) outlet.
