Hello Everyone!
We are staying in Paris 2 nights. Where do you think is the best place to stay that isn't too expensive? It doesn't have to be right near the city.
Also, we are leaving from Charles de Gaulle airport at 10 am, so on the third night we want to stay as close to there as possible. What are our choices?
Thank you. Collette
There is one we really like very near the airport (take their shuttle to the airport):
Relais Spa Paris www.relais-spa.com/uk/parisroissy/
The above hotel would probably fall in the expensive category if you look at their website... hopefully someone else will have another option.
Check booking.com and you can narrow down your search according to price and amenities.
Edit... they seem to have a better price on this hotel at booking.com... about $120 per nite (random check for mid July ), but there are others that look fine for much less.
For your two nights in Paris, tell us what you mean by " not too expensive" so we can recommend what you can afford. For your third night " close" to the airport, the Ibis hotel right at CDG would be my choice.
You probably need to repost this question in the France area... not the France Reviews. You will get more responses.
I assume by not too expensive you are looking for a mid-priced hotel... Not a cheap flea bag, but not the Ritz???
At the airport you can stay at a chain called accor hotels. They have a range novotel, ibis and ibis budget. Just do a search on accorhotels.com.
Not too expensive for Paris is in the range of $150-200 per ni. Budget would be a hostel.
You might check rue cler area or latin quarter or use rick steve guidebk for hotel names.
If you're looking for lower-priced places, I'm fond of the EuroCheapo website. Note that many of their listings are not secrets, so book early: http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/
Rather than stay at the airport take the RER train to CDG. we stayed way outside Paris to the west and had a ten o'clock flight. Just get up early and take the metro to the closest station, the RER is 10 euros to the airport and is faster than a cab or a bus. Rick's book can help you with this. That way you have extra time to enjoy Paris because there is absolutely nothing you want to see close to CDG. We were a little apprehensive about using this RER train but it worked smoothly and saved us a minimum of 25 euros.
Enjoy!
