Updated Hotel recommendation

Reading Rick Steves' Best of France, we booked into Hotel Le Relais duRoy in La Caserne just off the access road to Mont Saint Michel. It was advertised as having "well configured and plush rooms". My travel partner and I beg to differ! While it's a comfortable place, it's badly in need of updating. The furniture is worn, and the thin carpet a garish shade of red. Cups are plastic, with only two in the bathroom. On the positivie side, our room has a mini balcony and if we lean out, we can see the Abbey and gates controlling the flow of water into the bay surrounding the Abbey. Breakfast was a standard buffet, with eggs, meats, fruits and cereals. ( along with very small croissants!) I think there are better choices here now.

FYI
We stayed at La Jacatoiere at MSM. It was walking distance to the shuttle and excellent. Highly recommend. View of MSM from the backyard where there is pleasant seating to relax. We booked the downstairs room with outside access to a little patio and parking.

It depends when the information for that hotel was last updated in the guidebook it may well be a few years old. Was it clean and comfortable
