In September, we have a flight into Toulouse, with 3 nights there before touring around the region for 4 weeks before flying home from Toulouse. With a very early flight home at the end of our trip, I will book a night at the Holiday Inn Express at the Toulouse (Blagnac) airport. At the beginning of the trip, I am trying to decide whether to stay at the airport hotel or book at hotel in the city centre. Question: is public transit into the city centre convenient? Google mapping isn't very clear. Any recommendations on an in-town hotel? Merci!
I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott near the Toulouse Airport 2-3 years ago because I had an early morning flight.
But public transport to the airport is excellent. There's a tram that stops right in front of the terminal and goes into the center of Toulouse.
In Toulouse, I stayed at the Mercure Centre Wilson Capitole. Great location.
We’re heading to Toulouse at the start of our trip in July, arriving in early evening, likely weary and jet-lagged, and wanted a place where we could reach it easily, get dinner, and turn in. The hotels close to the airport are really expensive. We’re staying that first night instead at the Hotel St. Sernin, with an €8 bus that’ll get us a short walking distance to the hotel and dinner.
For your departure, I can’t offer any information. After looping thru the Pyrénées for several days starting on Day 2, we’re returning to Toulouse for 2 nights, then heading to Nice by train.
Thank you for your replies. I noted that due to construction, the T2 Tramway would be unavailable but they are trying to accommodate with extra buses. Cyn, I believe this is the Airport Shuttle you will be taking: https://www.tisseo.fr/en/airport-shuttle
Your hotel looks cool. I am looking into it for our September trip! Have a great trip yourself!
Cyn,
I am thinking St. Sernin will suit us well. Did you book directly with St. Sernin or use Booking.com. Tx!
Directly with the lodging … always.
That's how I lean!
Just back from our month in the French Pyrenees and wanted to give feedback. My husband and I stayed at the lovely Hotel St. Sernin, in a fabulous location close to everything we wanted to see in Toulouse. We spent the first 3 nights of our trip there; got over any jet lag; enjoyed the beautiful city on the Garonne River; and then were ready to grab the rental car and head out to the mountains. The 8 Euro Airport Navette (bus) was a 5-10 minute walk to the hotel. EZ. (A taxi ride from the airport is around 40 Euro.) The reception is on the 1 floor. You need to get up that set of stairs. The owner will lend a hand if you need help with your bags, but just a heads up. We got a "double comfort room," which was small, but clean with a good bath; I asked for a balcony which is quite sweet and the daylight from the windows is nice. The owner/manager is very nice and accommodating. We bought 4 Euro coffees from the breakfast room, but wandered out to nearby patisseries to get our own backed goods in the morning. We booked directly. Emails were promptly replied to. Highly recommend: https://www.hotelstsernin.com/en/
Im so glad you enjoyed the Hotel St. Sernin. We did, too, and stayed there both before and after our Pyrénées time. Yes, the stairs to get one flight up from the street took some effort, with luggage. Their breakfast was excellent. They even had a motorized shoe shine buffer (for brown on one side, or black on the other), but my husband didn’t avail himself of it. The s mm all balcony with a table and two chairs wedged onto it was a nice touch for alfresco viewing of the cathedral at twilight with a refreshment.
