RS' recommenation in Amboise: La Grange Chambres

Highly recommend staying at this lovely B&B in the center of Amboise where we stayed for only one night in late September while driving in France. Yveline and Patrick do not speak much English but they make up for it in their hospitality. Euro only. Even with our GPS rental, it was a tad difficult to find: their home behind gates is on the RT at the corner of a one-way road. Best to call in advance to have one of them direct you into their private car park or to another parking locations. Great breakfast;our upstairs room for two very quiet despite being in the center of the city; lots of eating options nearby including take-outs which we did as we were restaurant weary and had lovely outdoor dinner in their garden. Amboise is a nice walking town; the restaurants in front of the Church which we opted not to visit, are filled with tourists and bars. Visit to the Chateau do Clos-Luce pleasant but unless you need to see everything, can be comfortably seen in less than 1.5 hours including lingering time. Take your lunch and pick-nick on the grounds instead! Restaurant: La Fourcette booked but a short distance from La Grange. Other French guests at the B&B told us that their evening dinner at L'Alliance was excellent!

We also had a lovely stay at La Grange this summer. After Paris, we really appreciated the big, quiet room and the pretty garden. Yveline is simply wonderful and Patrick offered to drive us to the train station since we didn't have a car.
