Review Of Ibis Styles at CDG Paris France

I spent a night at the Ibis Styles in Terminal 3 at CDG.

It was decent. I would stay there again and I can recommend Ibis Styles.

However, there was no tea or coffee in room and I would have loved that. My room was cold, so cold that I did not shower.

The bed was great. Very comfy. It was a real plus.

Liked that CNN and BBC were offered.

Large continental breakfast with many options beginning at 5:30 am with a small one beginning at 5 am..

RER line is right there and so is the tram for Terminal 1 or 2.

Price was very reasonable.

Very good for those having an early flight or for those arriving late.

Lobby is simple but comfortable. . No free tea or coffee in lobby. There is a restaurant in lobby. Had a hamburger which was good. I believe it was made from steak. Came with a small leafy green salad with one cherry tomato cut in half. Cost about $20 which was not worth it but was one of the least expensive items on menu.

This Ibis Styles is large and next door is an Ibis.

I’ve enjoyed your detailed reports of the Paris trip. I did a semester abroad in college living in Paris back in 1983, but last visited in 1999, and need to get back there now that it’s the 21st century! That airport hotel reminds me of one at the Budapest airport, where the breakfast service started at 4 am. They knew their clientele, like us, had early flights. Back in my student days in Paris I could get a meal for 5 francs, about one dollar, at a university restaurant, not great food but it filled a hungry stomach.

I agree that it is time to get back but I do not know about this summer given all that is happening with Iran and fuel shortages.

I wonder if the price of food was so high because of the fuel shortages.

Well, you probably have. a lot more money to spend than when you were a student.

Slate, I stayed at that Ibis in October of last year when I was on the night before my flight from Budapest, and the breakfast service still starts at 4am, which is a really nice feature.

It's hard to find airport hotels that offer breakfast that early. The only other one I've found is the Holiday Inn Express at Glasgow airport, and even that was more of a continental breakfast starting at that hour. The Budapest location had everything; hot foods and cold foods, and lots of options.

I wonder if the price of food was so high because of the fuel shortages.

I wouldn't think so. Airport hotel options are usually priced pretty high (captive audience), and Paris is expensive in general. But if you think Paris is expensive, you should check out the prices in Iceland. It makes Paris look like a bargain. 😊

Mardee

and I am scheduled for a cruise Reykjavik to Southampton via Norway September 2027. I will be booking a hotel with breakfast and then eating street food and supermarket food. Think I will be staying in Reykjavik only three nights before sailing due to the high costs.

For now, I am looking to do something simpler October. I want to use my Southwest Airline rewards and fly non stop. Have been doing some research and will be posting soon asking for recommends.

I debated about posting about your comment on a 20E burger at the airport hotel restaurant and decided to go ahead. This would be the typical price of a burger at a cafe in Paris. In the places I normally eat (not high end) they generally run from 18E to 25E or so. Sometimes they come with frites, sometimes a nice green salad so I think the pricing here is in line with the rest of Paris and not jacked up because it's at the airport.

I'll add I looked at some of my local restaurants for burger prices since I was curious. They were mostly in the $18-$20 range as well.

Hi Pam

I ate at a McDonald's in Paris. A Big Mac off of the menu was about 7 euros but I ordered individually and paid 9 euros.

Might not have been as good as the better restaurants but it was ok.

And Pam

I had a good salad at Chipolte's

But I also had some French food including duck at a sit down restaurant. And it came with artichokes.

I ate at a restaurant in the Luxembourg Gardens. I had fish sticks which were really delicious. There were three and they were home made, not out of the freezer, It came with fries and I finished with coffee. And it came to about 25 euros. And no cole slaw!

But I have diabetes, high cholesterol and most seriously, CKD. I can not eat anything anyway.

But I forgot. I bought some food at. a supermarket a few doors down from my hotel. I had some good sushi and I forgot what else but I got a lot of food for 14 euros.

I forgot you mentioned you ate at La Terrasse de Madame! That is such a lovely location. I'm glad you found your way up there. One of my favorite spots is the nearby Medici Fountain.

I googled their menu and see a "Burger du Luxembourg" (eye roll on the not very inventive name - hahaha!!) there is 19.5E. They don't have a website so not sure when the photo of the menu was taken.

Just a historical note....if you draw a line between where you ate in the Gardens and the Pantheon, that is about the location of the Roman Forum from the 2nd century AD. It was the same time frame as the baths at the Cluny Museum where the Unicorn exhibition was.

I'm guessing your Paris Greeter walked you from the Pantheon to the Luxembourg Gardens although I know you were pretty spent by that time.

Hi Pam

I think 19.5 for. a burger with just fries is a lot of money.

And when you add on. a cup of coffee like I do at the end of the meal, you are looking at 24 or 25 euros.

Oh and I forgot, when i shopped at the supermarket about three doors up from my hotel, I also bought cole slaw and another prepared salad. Maybe potato salad. I think that i was told it was the largest super market in Paris, three stories.

Tried to eat both local and healthy although the latter was challenging. Just got lab results back and it shows that I was lax in my diet.

Unfortunately I had a really bad sleep tthe night before my walk with my Greeter. I had been up since midnight so I was tired from the get go.

I did explain to him and did the best that i could. Gave him. good review and a generous donation to Paris Greeters.

I had my walk with him on the 9th and he showed me places that I might not have seen if it were not for him. I did go back on the 11th when I was more refreshed.

I especially had an interesting talk with him about St Genevieve and The Revolution.
