We’ll be staying near Gare Montparnasse in Paris for a few nights in September and are hoping the well-traveled bunch on here could recommend a restaurant or two for dinner in the area. It looks like there are a lot of them and we’re trying to avoid the tourist traps. We’re not looking for anything fancy, just good food, good service. Thank you!
Yes, I realize it’s not the best area, but the hotel choice was not ours. Just hoping there might be something in the area.
I've eaten at Le Select on Blvd Montparnasse. The evening I was there I heard no English being spoken there, all French speakers around my friends and me. Food was good and it felt like a true experience. I'd suggested it to my friends based on a blog entry I'd read from Vero, a RS guide, who writes as France with Vero.

I've also met friends for drinks at La Coupole which is across the street and has a long history (Think Josephine Baker and that crowd in the 20's and 30's!) with gorgeous Art Deco interiors!

There are also a bunch of creperies along Rue du Montparnasse (a different street than Boulevard du Montparnasse, lol).
I also had a wonderful time at the Odessa right across from the Edgar Quinet Metro stop. Unfortunately I can't exactly remember what the food tasted like because I'd had one of their Saint-Germain Spritzes so was slightly smashed, lol. IT was delicious!
Mouth is watering for one of the spritzes!
Thank you Pam!
