Any suggestions for moderately priced lunch and dinner spots open on Sundays and Mondays? Most places I have read about seem to be closed on these days. We will be staying in a hotel so we can bring sandwiches or takeout back to our rooms for dinner, if necessary, but won't be able to cook.
For lunch you might consider the cafe at the Musee Caumont. It is open every day. https://www.caumont-centredart.com/en/prepare-your-visit/cafe-caumont. A beautiful setting.
When we were in Aix on a Sunday some years ago, we had lunch at a local bakery (good sandwiches!,) and dinner at Brasserie Le Beffroi. I just checked, and the Brasserie is still open on Sundays. My notes indicate that the food was "not bad, especially for late Sunday night."
Stan had the seafood risotto, and I had something called "aioli marseillais," a local specialty. It was lots of vegetables, with musssels and seasoned codfish, and, of course, a garlicky aioli. I noted that the veggies were overcooked, but the mussels were very good.
That may have been the only place we found open for dinner that evening, at least in our neighborhood.
Here’s another idea for a place to start. The website or app for The Fork. It’s similar to Open Table in the US, a platform for making restaurant reservations but you could have a look with a search for a Sunday or Monday time and see what’s available. There are reviews, menus and maps on their platform. Or research the restaurants separately. It won’t show every possibility but at least you won’t go hungry.
Thank you, all. You are very helpful!
Love the idea of the Caumont! We went to La Pizza on 3 Rue Aude, one of the Sundays that we were there. Good and cute, and in Rick’s book!
