Reserving a room in Paris

I have been looking online for a Paris hotel to reserve a room at, for 9 nights in March, 2026. I'd like to look up rates and amenities, and compare several places. An astounding number of hotels report (via the online reservation service) "no rooms are available." I am trying like heck to start at the hotels' real home pages, but many seem to use the same platform for reservations. Is there a "magic" element to the timing for making hotel reservations in Paris online?

I would start the search with a booking site, where it’s easy to bookmark many properties. Narrow down your search, then move to the direct websites. Prices should be slightly lower than the booking site, but not always.

It’s probably too early for those hotels. Try in a few weeks or another month.

In addition to it possibly being too early, try shortening your stay to 2 or 3 nights while you search. That reservation system used by a couple of my go-to hotels doesn’t like stays of more than 7 nights. Sometimes I wind up doing 2 reservations back to back or sometimes I will email the hotel to work it out.

Thanks, you guys. This is working out. Fewer days=data! I will email when I've picked.

Woohoo! Very silly to have to manipulate the reservation system this way BUT glad you are getting results for your comparison!

I have emailed hotels before to ask when they will accept reservations for the month that I plan to book with them.

Same with my "go to" hotel in Paris that can't handle a reservation longer than a week, and we typically stay longer than that, so I email reception to inquire about availability and booking.

Also Paris tends to have a lot of conferences in Spring and Fall so that could affect vacancies.

been using booking.com for decades. Usually no up front cost and cancellations (depending on hotel) are pretty easy.

Occasionally hotels have lower nightly rates for long stays (the minimum stay varies), so if you have to split a reservation when booking online, it's worth contacting the hotel about the cost of a full-length reservation. Always verify the cancellation policy, though. Many places have different rates for fully flexible vs. non-refundable reservations.
