Public transportation to Giverney

How do I travel to Claude’s Maison? I know it involves several transfers.

Take the train from PARIS-Gare Saint Lazare to VERNON station. As you leave the station there is regional bus service and a fun, but slower, tourist train (which includes a short city tour) from just outside the doors of Vernon station (bus service schedules are roughly synchronized to SNCF train schedules) that will take you the short distance to Giverny in 15-20 mins--dropping you off in a parking lot that's an easy 5-10 minute walk to the entrance. We took the train, it was €8 per person round trip, we bought our tickets from the driver. It was super easy and we had a great time. Enjoy!!

Mom and I took the direct train from Gare St Lazare to Vernon (which is a subject of a Monet painting if you didn’t already know. How cool!) Then, we chose the little white train to take us over to Giverney, as it was easier/quicker to load onto. A plus was that AFTER touring Monet’s gardens and a late lunch, the train was first to arrive in the “return to train station” parking lot (before the big bus). On a cooler day the bike rentals would be lovely!

FYI - the “restroom” door at the Vernon train station was somehow jammed closed. So you have to visit the small cafe across from the station. The toilet is located on the side of the bar.

Enjoy!

Claudia, don’t forget to purchase your tickets ahead of time, and either print them or have them saved as a photo on your phone. The internet connection was very weak and another guest had difficulty retrieving his via his email. You’d be amazed at how many people we walked past bc we had advanced tickets. Just look for the sign for ticket-holders or something like that (it was to the right of the entrance but someone else may remember better than me?).
