Has anyone visited Versailles as the first leg of a trip heading out of Paris? Most info I've seen about visiting Versailles is in the context of a Paris day trip. We are a couple looking for a place to eat and overnight after visiting Versailles as part of the first leg of an 8 day adventure. We would need to be able to pickup a car rental as part of all this, or at least make train/bus connections heading towards Burgundy. Any recommendations?

Versailles is just 10 miles from the Paris center city. Stay where you are, do Versailles as a day trip and pick the rental car up a day later.

Hey! We live in Burgundy (Bourgogne)!
We took some friends from the States to Versailles last year. We stayed at a rented apartment in Versailles and had dinner at Oh Liban, a middle eastern restaurant. The food was good and the service was excellent.
