Paris neighborhood recommendations for June 2026

Hi Forum Friends,
Three of us are travelling to Paris before catching up with a RS tour to southern France. We are looking to rent an apartment for three days and although we have been to Paris before, have never stayed in an apartment with access to our own kitchen. Does any one have a recommendation for a pleasant neighborhood where we could walk to a local grocery, boulangerie, fromagerie for supplies?
In terms of sightseeing, we are used to taking the Metro so the neighborhood would not necessarily have to be near any major attractions.
Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Joan

We didn’t stay in an apartment. We stayed in the 13th Arr. near the Place d’Italie, a nice non touristy area with good Metro, bus, taxi access

The 13th is nice and interesting, never stayed in it but have visited the district,....diverse, non-touristy, basically local visitors, and easily connected to the Metro.

In January 2025, we stayed in the 2nd arrondisssement for one week, near rue Monterguil /Faubourg. It was on rue St Denis. We'd not stayed in that area before but loved it. It was quiet but had everything; restaurants, cafes, boulangeries, patisseries, passages (it was over a passage). We booked it on AirBnb. It is the home of the host who frequently traveled for weeks at a time for his work and would rent it out at those times.

How many bedrooms do you need? This flat had two bedrooms both with a king bed but only one bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked and contained a washing machine.
For reference, it is a 19-minute Metro trip on the Réaumur-Sébastopol line to Notre Dame.
Addition: it appears that this apartment is no longer listed. The area, however, was quite pleasant.

With only three nights, I would stay in a hotel rather than an apartment.

Joan, I'm reading your post as I am also looking for an apartment for 3 weeks this fall. I echo Suki's recommendation. You won't have a lot of time to explore Paris in 3 days. I recommend staying in a hotel central to what you want to see. I have narrowed my search to the 2nd arr. and away from Le Halles. It really comes down to what you want to experience. Do you want a quiet neighborhood at night or one with lots of nightlife? There are great videos on Youtube discussing the various arrondissements. Also do a search on the internet to pull up arr. descriptions and I suggest asking an Ai tool to do the same and compare. I want to be near the 9-11 arr. and in foodie areas. I also like boutique and antique shopping. It's not my first visit so visiting museums isn't my top priority.

I've found that most vacation apartments in Paris require minimum stays greater than 3 days.
