Good morning!
We got back from Paris. The Pont Royal Hotel was what I would call a five star quiet luxury hotel for people seeking privacy. It is small, clean and feels French. Their front desk, staff, housekeeping and concierge are wonderful. There is a very small bar lounge, which is also lovely. They don’t have a restaurant, but there is a very expensive and well known restaurant, Restaurant du Joel Robichaud, that is associated with the hotel next-door. Like Ferraris, Bentley‘s and other major luxury cars parked there every night. I don’t think I would stay at this hotel again only because of the location which was in the 7th arrondissement and on the outskirts of the St. Germaine area. The closest attraction is the Musée D’Orsay which is about a 10 minute walk. A half hour walk to Nôtre Dame. Just to give you an idea. The Rue de Bac and Blvd. St. Germaine are right there but not the shopping sections. Almost all the businesses were related to home design wares and services. We would’ve liked to be more in the thick of things. The hop on bus tickets were great for getting a visual of all the main attractions and getting us over to Galleries Lafayette, which we loved. The only drawback is that the bus only goes in one directional Loop, so depending on where you want to go from your location it can be a two hour bus ride. But that’s minor. It was nice to sit in a warm space and just circle around and take pictures.
thanks for a good trip report. The hotel sounds good - I'm afraid I didn't know it before.
