Paris hotel for family of 4

Hello, I am looking for hotel recommendations for a family of 4 in Paris for February 2024. I'd like to stay under 200 euros a night if at all possible. Our family would like to go to the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Disneyland Paris, and day trips to Normandy and Versailles. It has been several years since I was last in Paris and the rest of my family has never been. Thank you!

I have stayed at Hotel Excelsior Latin and they do have family rooms for 4 people. It is located in the Latin Quarter near the Sorbonne and Luxemburg gardens. It has been recently renovated. I can't look up rates for February 2024 (probably too early) so I don't know if it will meet your price criteria.

As a family of 4 I would encourage you to look on Airbnb, that way you have a home for family rather than just a hotel "bedroom". I do not work for Airbnb I just have used them many times especially when I travel with my family. I have used them in Paris too. It's a much better experience to hang out in the morning in a living room/kitchen with your coffee while everyone gets ready for the day. Enjoy your trip. J

We stayed at Hotel Bretonnerie (https://www.hotelparismaraisbretonnerie.com) but their 4 person room is more like $299 a night. Once we got a small apartment off of Booking.com that was very cheap (prob still not $200 night) but was not clean enough and we had wifi issues and a fussy owner. We've had several bad experiences with rental apartments abroad but I know some folks love them. Both of these choices were in the Marais, though, which may be a more expensive area. Once we stayed in the Latin Quarter but further south toward Les Goblins, and it was much cheaper than the Marais. Good luck!

Also just a note, you can't take a day trip to Normandy, it's too far. Ideally, try to spend 3 nights there, although you might could do 2.

I hate to say it, but you are probably going to have a difficult time staying in that budget. Very few hotel rooms in Paris sleep 4 people. If they do, it is with two people sharing a sofa bed. Not sure if that works for your group. Hotel rooms are typically very, very small. You will likely need two rooms.

Be very careful with apartment listings also. A sofa bed in the living room is considered a “bedroom”, so if you want actual beds you need to search for a 3 bedroom, not 2 bedroom.

I agree that Normandy is too far for a day trip, especially if you have kids.

Paris has been cracking down on short-term rentals like Airbnb since before the pandemic. There aren't as many options as there used to be, and if the owner you are working with isn't operating legally, the apartment could suddenly become unavailable shortly before your arrival date. Proceed with caution.

I always recommend booking.com for research and also for booking if you so desire. They do offer apartment rentals as well as hotels.

One plus for you and family. You are traveling in February 2024, winter. Prices will be lower.

UPDATE. I went to booking.com and did a mock booking for five nights in February. Had to put in age of children. I can not remember the ages but some very reasonable prices came up. I did not click on the links.

Suggestion that you choose free cancellation and no advance payment required.

I would suggest Grand Hotel Magenta , a few minutes from Gare du Nord. I had such a room in early July as a solo. There was no other room except this one, which was offered to me for 150 Euro. He let me see the room first, which was totally surprising. I took him up on that, was stunned to see the room so large and spacious. I took it for that one night.

Since I was staying for another 6 nights, he said he would see another suitable room would become available due to cancellations, no-shows, etc as the large room was only available for that one night.

For the other six nights, I got a much smaller room, one much more suitable for a single at a much lower price, 100 Euro per night.

There was a catch. He wanted the first 3 nights paid right away in cash., the rest could be paid later by card. I had the cash on me, paid right then and there, still it drained the six 50 Euro bills from me, save one, I got a nice room at a fantastic price, no AC, not a pressing matter anyway.

Two other hotels are adjacent to Hotel Magenta, the Lennon and the Avalon....they look even better that does the Magenta.

part 2 here...

The room for that one night at 150 Euro easily slept 5 people in 2 rooms. The TV was in the larger room,... obviously.
