We are traveling from Bruges to London and I’m wondering if one night in Lille before London would be a good choice. We will be traveling with our adult daughter. Our trip so far is a RS Paris tour, then Belgium, and end in London. Any advice on Lille will be appreciated.
I spent several nights in Lille last year. I liked both the art museums and the architecture. The hotel I stayed at was OK for me but below the standard expected by the rest of the forum. I'm sure you won't have a problem finding a nice place.
The last 2 trips I did a couple of day trips to Lille, exploring the center-ville and also a day trip from Lille to its adjacent little town of Lambersart because of its WW1 site, reachable by bus from Lille Flandre. Lille is well-worth visiting, the cultural center of Northern France.
This time I'll be doing a few nights in Lille in the Hotel Cafe Napoleon, opposite of Lille Flandre, much shorter of a distance by train to other important towns in Northern France, such as Cambrai, Lens, Bethune and southern Belgium.
