NYSA is a great wine shop on Rue Cler

wonderful wine shop next to Ulysse Cafe on Rue Cler owned by young expat American (from north Sacramento) who has good wines to fit your budget--accessible, friendly, casual no pressure to buy, informative

The wine shop owner was sampling champagne in front of his shop and we were waiting in line for crepes at the cafe next door. We had a couple of minutes before our food order was done so we tried the champagne. I typically find champagne too mineral/aluminum tasting but this French version was very tasty. The owner said the French save the best wine for their country and I agree.

We bought yummy wines here for several Eiffel Tower park picnics--cherished memories from our week in Paris.

Thanks for the tip. We too have noticed that French wines are better in France, Italian in Italy, Spanish in Spain... Not only better, but much more affordable.

We'll be in Paris again next year, so I'm bookmarking this! I tend to be intimidated by local wine and cheese shops, so I'm glad to hear this shop is casual.
