Ferme de la Rançonnière is a restaurant within 10 minutes of Arromanche in Normandy. I had read reviews which were positive. I chose it to take 2 girlfriends to, to have an out-of-the-way lunch in an interesting surrounding. IT SUPER DISAPPOINTED. We paid waaaaay too much for a VERY simplistic meal. The service was painfully slow to the point of getting up and asking the spartan crew to take our order. We were the only ones in the dining room for 45 minutes, so obviously that wasn't the problem. We kept expecting the courses to get better - they didn't. The whole meal was a bust, especially for the price.
Thank you for this. I was just looking at that restaurant as a possibility for our trip there.
What exactly did you pay and what did the “simplistic” meal consist of? The vagueness of your review is not helpful.
We 3 women (all light eaters) considered between 2 choices for lunch - "Terroir" at 32 Euros or "Tradition" at 44 Euros.
We all chose the Terroir.
There were 5 Starter choices, we ordered different ones so we could sample.
The 3 we ordered were not only small in portion, but for example my puff pastry was tough to cut which held the pureed beets flavored with coffee (couldn't taste this) and tonka (a raisin like bean). My main course of guinea fowl was eaten in 5 or 6 bites and the corn flan along side it was just ... average. Honestly, we were SO looking forward to this amazing historical property, and the wonderful looking option of eating on the gravel patio was "not open" without explanation.
Here is the link for the restaurant and its menu choices. Eat there and perhaps our experience was an exception.
