Mont St. Michel hotel recommendation

Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced hotel for a one night stay in August that isactually located on the island? And where does one park a rent car while on the island?

My husband and I spent one night on Mont St Michel. We prioritized staying on the island that night and were so glad we did. We parked in a lot designated for those staying on the island overnight. We locked our rental car and all was safe there. We walked on to the island around 4 pm when most of the daily tourists were leaving. We loved touring the church and were able to get in our hotel after that. We stayed at:
Hotel La Croix Blanche
Grande Rue

We had a great room.....on the 4th floor and a good climb but still a fabulous view at night. I will tell you that we faithfully called DAILY for at least a month until we were finally able to get them to open their books on our dates and give us a room. We did notice that a large Rick Steves tour group had reserved a big block of rooms and so we were happy to have gotten a room. We booked our room in November for a night the following May 29. We were persistent!
Have a great visit!

We stayed at Hotel du Guesclin on the island and really enjoyed it. Had a bay view room and took the half board option which includes a nice dinner. Reserve a table by the windows.

There are only 5 hotels on the island. Check with them directly because booking sites don't have them all and availability varies from actual vacancies.
