Maison Prades is a lovely B&B in the town of Prades, about a half hour west of Perpignan and an hour from Collioure. It is in the foothills of the French Catalan Pyrenees. The B&B is owned by Benoit and Robson who are fluent in English and are very helpful and knowledgable about the area. They are terrific hosts who will gladly steer you to the best sights and restaurants. The house is very quiet with big views of the Canigou Massif. The beds are comfy and the location is really convenient. You could even manage here without a car by taking the train from Perpignan and using the local one euro bus. You could take the Little Yellow Train to see the higher elevations of the Pyrenees. However, this is a great area to explore by car. We visited Queribus and Peyrepetuse. We hiked in the foothills of the Canigou. We explored a gorge carved into the rock with cable handrails. We visited Romanesque sites. And we ate great meals. We have been to other parts of the Pyrenees and we think this area is the easiest to access with the broadest variety. Maison Prades is the best option for exploring this area.
