Having never been to Lyon, France, and wanting to make that city a base for 4-6 days to explore the area, what district is best to stay in? We want a hotel, with close public transport. Soundproofing is important as I am a light sleeper.

We enjoyed our stay at Rick's recommended Hotel des Celestines. We opted for a Superior room on the Theatre side instead of the "quieter" courtyard room and had not problems with noise. Rooms are tight, but very clean and charming.
