Our recent stay at La Tour De Cause in Point De Cause in the Dordogne region of France confirmed our respect for the new owners, Nico and Igor, who have extended the excellent tradition established over a decade plus by Caitlin and Albert. This rustic stone structure, with lovely surrounding landscape, set in a very small village, has five rooms to let, so the "crowd" is always small and intimate.
The new owners have added an optional, exceptional evening meal, a fine segue into continental dining. Breakfast is included and features only the freshest ingredients and options which are prepared immediately on request. Accommodation prices are very reasonable.
The rooms are rustic and modern all at once, roomy, very comfortable, opening to a crunchy gravel courtyard, perfect for relaxation and conversation. Among the local attractions are the painted caves at Lascaux II and Font-de-Gaume, the ancient cliff dwelling at La Roche, various castles and chateaus, including the extensive gardens at Marqueyssac. There are many exceptional views of the surrounding countryside from Marqueyssac, a short drive or very nice walking trip from La Tour De Cause. The Dordogne River winds its way leisurely through the region. In May the tourist season is in its infancy.
