I am interested in finding out the hotels used during the RS tours in Chamonix.
Thank you in advance!
June 2015 - Hotel L'Arve.
Have also stayed at Hotel L'Arve and highly recommend it.
thank you both.....
If I go, it will be the first week of June ..... my biggest concern is the ability to hike...
that's why I was looking at this Myway Alpine tour.
It appears you are seeking hotel info since you may go over early before the tour, or stay later after the tour. If that is the case, the RS office will send you the name of the first and last hotels when they confirm your reservation for the tour. They do not always use the same hotels for all their tours, so I'd wait until you get their confirmation before making additional hotel bookings.
We stayed at the Hotel L'Arve May 31-June 1 as part of the RS tour of Eastern France. Good location, helpful staff, great breakfast. Highly recommend!
Donna....
How was the weather when you were there?
That will be the time frame I'll be visiting.
Were you able to do any hiking?
Thank you!
Hi ahb,
Just saw your follow-up questions. The weather was great - sunny and 60 degrees - when we visited Chamonix May 31 - June 1, 2015. We bought a day pass at the ticket office for the Aiguille du Midi. We went to the top, then used the pass to take the train to Montenvers. In Montenvers, we took a cable car, then walked down 420 stairs to see the ice cave carved out of a glacier. We didn't do any real "hiking", but walking to and from the ice cave was no problem (the ground was dry, no issues with snow or ice).
The town is very walkable. We stayed at the Hotel L'Arve, very nice, good location, great breakfast.
We also had a wonderful dinner at La Caleche (http://www.restaurant-caleche.com/en). Fondue and raclette, so good!
Hope you have a great trip!
Thank you very much!!!!! Chamonix sounds amazing!!!!
