We are have 2 nights in Marseille in October, so I am looking for a hotel by the old port. I see several, but the online reviews are not very helpful. Anyone have recommendations?

In the old port, I’ve stayed at the Hotel Escale Oceania which I found through a recommendation on this site from a forum member. It was very well-situated just steps from a metro stop, close to several museums/attractions and the staff was helpful. Our double room was very spacious for a European hotel. We didn’t have a water view, but I believe there were rooms with port views. My only complaint would be that the pillows and the mattress were stiffer than I prefer.
One caution about the location in general - we were there over a weekend and it was party central at the old port on Saturday night. Not just people noise but revving motorcycles and other loud vehicles.

I’m staying at Hotel Carre Vieux-Port end of September. Looks good on website and seems in a good position.
