hi I'm not very proficient with this site but I would love to hear from anyone who has taken the Tauck river cruise to Normandy which we are taking in October we need a hotel and it was suggested for us to stay in the 18th ARR but i haven't found a hotel i like within my budget up to $400/night There are so many hotels in Paris that it's difficult to know even where to start Any suggestions are welcomed
Thanks Marie
Is this your first trip to Paris? I'd probably stay closer to the river but that is just me. I prefer the 7th which many here pooh-pooh, lol.
There are 2 hotels I use often there - Hotel Muguet and Hotel Relais Bosquet. I am staying in both in October for well under your 400E budget.
Are there specific things you want to see on your 2 full days in Paris?
Was it a friend that suggested the 18th? There are parts that can be a bit hilly.
It looks like the Tauck cruises often dock at Quai de Grenelle which is about a bit further on from the Eiffel Tower. It will be a short cab ride from the hotels in the Rue Cler area if this is indeed where you will board.
Why was the 18th arrondissement suggested? Last week you asked about hotels in the 16th.
Have you been to Paris before? Are you planning to see the typical sights.
Are you open to other areas?
If you are in Paris 3 days before the cruise it shouldn't matter where you stay as you can always taxi to the port the day you are meeting on Board. You can find plenty of nice hotels for $400/night or less. Check Booking.com
Check out Citadines St. Germain. Large rooms for Paris, great location right in the center of Paris. We stayed in a studio, which had tons of space and a kitchenette. Rates in early October are much higher than later in October, for some reason.
Hotel Residences des Artes is another great option in a fabulous location. Most nights in October are around €300.
I would be looking in the 5th or 6th. Oldest part of Paris. Close to lots of sights. Look at room sizes carefully. Some are terribly small: 110 sq ft. By comparison, most hotels in the US are over 300 sq ft. It matters when you want to open a suitcase and two people can’t stand up in the room at the same time! It’s also convenient to be near a metro stop.
We’ve graduated to Tauck tours after nearly a dozen RS tours. One reason was to avoid the typical RS hotels- a place to lay your head and little more. Your budget is already blown. Stay here https://www.luxembourg-paris-hotel.com/en/ and enjoy your time in Paris!
Are you proficient with tourbooks? Because they all have hotel recommendations in various areas at various prices. Check some out.
Also, to post a question about Paris you should use the France forum. Alan's suggestion is an excellent one and shouldn't end up at $400.
