Just enjoyed 4 nights in Bayeux at Hotel Reine Mathilde. Lovely, quaint, very clean and pleasant! Enjoyed their restaurant for breakfast and dinner also. Good price and great location in heart of town!
I'm there now. My experience is different.
Upgraded room in desperate need of replacing old, stained carpet. Housekeeping has yet to vacuum but left me a basket of supplies on the day I put out my do not disturb sign.
Wifi very slow and keeps cutting out.
Breakfast overpriced for what is offered. (Plenty of cafe's nearby for better coffee and patisserie.)
Staff is friendly and works in both the hotel and restaurant
On the plus side, it's quiet and I slept very well. I'm in one of the annex buildings.
For others reading this, we’ve stayed at Hotel d’Argouges 6+ times and love it.
I stayed in the Hotel d'Argouges as well. I stayed in the annex building which was okay, except there wasn't AC and there was a bee hive in the ivy and I couldn't open the windows. I'm still not clear why screens do not exist on windows in Europe when there is no AC????
I would try the main house next time to see if it is any nicer.
And we enjoyed our stay at the historic Hotel Leon d’Or.
We stayed at Hotel d'Argouges in 2016 and loved it. Staff was great, nice breakfast and happy hour. Fantastic back garden to enjoy those things...
I remember having to loop around the block, drive through the arch into their courtyard. Parking on site.
