Hotel Jeu de Paume - Ile St Louis, Paris - and neighborhood

I've stayed in several hotels in Paris, different neighborhoods, etc, but last fall on my 19 day solo trip I decided to look at Jeu de Paume.
The prices were actually lower than some other RS recommended hotels near Rue Cler etc, so I took a 'small double' as a single room and was pleasantly surprised. The architecture is stunning and there are different levels of sitting areas, to relax, enjoy a drink (they have a small bar and can serve you water to whisky) - or just plan your next day. Service was excellent - my room was moderately sized, not cramped but not spacious, but well layed out, and with a nice desk area. The bed with 4 pillows (!!) was super comfortable, bathroom had every amenity including that elusive bathtub - wonderful to relax in after a full day of walking. The location is stunning - instead of breakfast at the hotel or local eatery, I usually bought an almond croissant, a piece of quiche, and a latte, and then enjoyed that on a bench overlooking the Seine, sunny cool mornings....a 'slow ride' kind of trip.
I did try the St Regis cafe on the corner -- good menu -- fair prices - superb vantage point - casual - had the duck - enormous/delicious portion of canard, with potatoes fried in duck fat....OMG -- During my stay I stopped here several times for a mineral water, etc, the doors are open wide and you just watch the world walk by. After day 2 the waitress I usually had would wave to me if she spotted me walking. Also, the proprietor of Tresors du Tibet could chat all day about her wonderful products mostly produced by Tibetan artisans now living in India. She's a darling.
The Jeu du Paume is within walking distance of the new Picasso Museum (one of my purposes for this trip) - and it's a pleasant stroll through the Marais. If it's within your budget, consider it - I totally enjoyed this location.
