Hi: A friend and I are going to stay in St. Remy in late May for about 5 nights (using it as a hub for other activities as well as enjoying the city.) Has anyone got a recommendation for a reasonable hotel that is centrally located so walking to meals is within half a mile? By "reasonable" I am thinking about $250 a night maximum for 2 beds in a room. Dream room would have a window or balcony overlooking the street. Want some French flavor, nothing too American! Thanks so much. - Karen in San Carlos, CA
We stayed about the same amount of time in St Remy, in 2014. it was an excellent town as a base. we had a car and could easily day trip to see lots of interesting places. we stayed in a B&B right in the town, with parking, where we could walk a few hundred metres for evening meals and the shops etc.
It not a large town. just a nice size.
I would suggest a B&B for a more 'French' experience, rather than just another hotel and local suggestions.
there was a tourism office in the town, they would be worth contacting.
hope this helps.
do a search ( in the tab at the top) for previous topics on what to see near St Remy.
This was very helpful, thank you so much!
We loved Sous Les Figueres in st Remy. Translates to under the fig trees. Better than a street view it is situated in a lovely garden and each room has outside seating. There is free parking which is gated at night. You can walk everywhere in the town. We stayed five nights and drove to many towns in the area. Market day was great--do not miss it!
I saw that online - thank you so much!
We stayed (and ate) at Villa Glanum, which we picked from booking.com; longer walk into town, very quiet, nice-looking pool (we were there before the weather called for a pool) Had an individual cottage.
I will put that on my list of places to check out. Thanks!
