Hotel Agora in Les Halles or Hotel Diana in Latin Quarter?

Has anyone had any experience staying in the Hotel Agora near the Pompidou Center? I'm seeing mixed reviews. I've heard nothing but good about the Hotel Diana. This will be my 2nd visit to Paris and I'm interested in seeing some things other than the top 10 tourist sites, i.e. Opera House, tea room, local markets, Printemps, Paris Walks, Holocaust Museum, Luxemburg Gardens, etc I'll be in Paris 2 full days and 2 half days. The things I want to see are on both sides of the Seine. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Wow, my thoughts are this,,, IVe stayed at hotel Diana,, clean, comfy, has an elevator, good ac, good wifi, safe in room.. all things that I have just read are missing at Hotel Agora.. did you read the reviews.. not in same league as Hotel Diana..

on tripadvisor reviews the Hotel Agora

48 % of reviews list it as excellant ( only 11 %) or very good( 37%)

Hotel Diana

92% of reviews rate it as excellant (55%) or very good (37%)

The price difference would have to be astounding for me to choose the hotel agora over the hotel diana..

The location of both hotels is a moot point as both are central ( although noise has been mentioned in hotel agora reviews)

Are you just looking for something cheaper than hotel Diana.. if so you could consider hotel St Pierre.. ive stayed there.. rooms are tiny but clean and good ac and excellant location.

Pat, I had thought about the Hotel Agora because I was looking for something about $110/night in that area and it was one of the few I saw. But you are correct, the reviews were very mixed. Some said it was excellent - others, not so great. I appreciate your help. Hearing for people who have actually stayed at the Hotel Diana is very helpful!

I stayed at the Hotel Diana a few years ago and really liked it.
It also had a small fridge in the room which was nice for keeping cheese and wine and yogurt.
The owner was very personable and was usually around during breakfast. The desk staff — not so much but it was occupied 24/7.
I haven’t stayed there a second time because it’s always been full, but I can certainly recommend it.

I really like staying in the Latin Quarter. I have not stayed at either hotels. I usually stay at Hotel Familia, in the Latin Quarter and it is typically very economically priced. It's not fancy, some would say dated, but its clean and the staff is great. It also is a typical charming Parisian building. Once I had a lovely balcony. The other times I had a large window with iron window box that opened over the street.

Another vote for Hotel Diana.
My daughter and I stayed there in June 2016. There are bus stops and a Metro stop close to the hotel. We walked to many on the sights and always felt safe.

Enjoy your time in PAris!
