Have you rented a French farmhouse?

My husband and I go to Europe in the summers and this summer we'd like to slow it down. I'd love to rent a French farmhouse or the like in southern France - Provence, Annecy, Chamonix, or the like. We've been to these places before but I'd like to just....relax. I am less interested in the Mediterranean, but if you stayed at the perfect rental and there are views of the sea, I would not reject it. haha.

I'm thinking a week or so in Provence and a week or so in or around Annecy. We'll have a car, and we will visit Chamonix again because we have fun memories there. I'd like to visit some farmers' markets and do some short day hikes. But really, after two years of COVID and the stress of life, my goal is just to slow down and enjoy nature.

I've found that recommendations from other travelers about rentals they stayed in are a great way to find accommodations, so please share yours!

Thanks so much!

Go to Fodors.com do a search under Europe/France for France expert Stu Dudley. He has rented gites all over France and is very helpful.

We’ve used Gites de France a number of times, for stays in several parts of the country. Some have better kitchens, washing machine, living room space, and other amenities, and others are smaller and more basic, but priced accordingly. They’ve always been a great value, and wonderful options for staying in some more out of the way locations, where having a car was needed, too. Check out https://www.gites-de-france.com/en
