We recently had a very pleasant stay at the Clos-Versailles Beynac. The room and all other guest areas were immaculate. Our hostess was very gracious and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious with everything served being local products and/or homemade. The guests joined at a large table for the meal which led to fun conversations. Her husband was charming, an able assistant and willing to answer all questions about the ways of the Perigord. This guest house was listed as a Rick Steves suggestion prior to COVID. The owners retired and Virginie and Bruno have ably stepped in to keep it as a great option for a stay in this fascinating area of Dordogne.
I was so happy to read this. Prior to Covid, we were in the Dordogne region and stayed at this lovely place. I knew the owners retired and often wondered what became of the B&B. The place is lovely and one of our fondest memories in visiting France. I have to go back!
This post appeared almost 13 years to the day after we had a wonderful stay at what was then Le Petit Versailles. I'm glad to hear that it has survived COVID and whatever else and is still the great place we visited. It is a beautiful area with a great deal to see. One thing I would recommend in particular in the area is the Chateau Milandes which once belonged to the American singer Josephine Bake, it is a beautiful building with a heart warming story.
