Just to share that I found a wonderful bakery of both breads and pastries on the main drag, right next to the main post office. It is Maison Lissajoux, and is the best I’ve found in France after 3 weeks of traveling. Great coffee too! We also loved our very reasonable hotel, St Albert which is only one block away. Very comfortable. We were able to find free parking in the lot across the street from the hotel, but it could be full and maybe we were just lucky. The parking closest to the street in this lot are marked ‘payment’ which I think you have to pay, but just a row back and they are not marked. This is very convenient to the center, and just a delightful city all around with the medieval looking narrow streets and buildings. We loved it!

Thanks for sharing this wonderful bakery. Remember it well! Our hotel was a minute away. We were there for the incredible Saturday market. A memorable day. Our tour group bought picnic fare and enjoyed the regional foods. Loved Sarlat!

Totally agree…..friendly owner and delicious food……we ate there every morning last May…..don’t miss this place! Sarlat is special and its market is outstanding……

I also thank you for this. I am planning a trip to the Dordogne and Basque regions for 2023. This is very helpful information to have. A good cup of coffee and pastry are just what we'd want, along with a good hunk of bread.

Also, Le Presidial is a fantastic restaurant for a special meal. We found it very reasonable for the outstanding quality. An added plus is that the setting is also wonderful, it’s an old stone Villa with wonderful outdoor seating and great service. I had the lamb chops, I think my husband had the filet mignon and it was one of the most memorable meals we had in France. The lamb was cooked to perfection.
