Two women looking for recommendations for Paris hotel in nice but lively area up to $300/ nite. We like the older historic hotels. Not hilton or Marriott because we want to experience Paris. Any suggestions ?
We are also going to Epernay and Beaune , so any great lodging suggestions there would also be appreciated. Thanks!
Last year we stayed five nights at a great place, Les Jardins de Lois, in Beaune. The entrance to the ringed city is across the street. Easy walking to restaurants, sights and shopping. Eating suggestions, Caveaus de Madeleine (communal table was great) and Brasserie de Carnot for lunch and/or wine sipping. Hope this helps.
In Paris I stay at the Grand Hotel des Balcons: http://www.balcons.com/. It's quite a bit cheaper than $300 a night, but may be a bit basic for you. The rooms are plainer than the Art Nouveau lobby, but perfectly serviceable. The location is great, and the desk staff speak English.
