Food for the park advice

Bonjour. I feel like I have boxed myself in on my itinerary. The quandary: We will be at the Catacombs on a Sunday from 5:30 to 6:30. We then are trying to make an 8:00pm cruise that leaves near the Eiffel Tower at 8:00pm. Ideally, I would love to find street food or take out to eat while strolling through the Champ De Mars. But food options near the Catacombs and Champs De Mars seem limited, especially late on a Sunday. Am I missing something. Bonus points for something near the Ecole Militaire end of Champ De Mars. I love street food if that is a viable option but picking up just a Jambon Beurre somewhere would make me equally happy.

How about crepes to go from Les Frères Bretons or any other creperie around the area?

oh I think Galettes would work perfectly. That place shows to be temporarily closed on google and their FB page doesn’t mention anything Maybe just for August? I need a backup plan but if they are open in Sept that would be awesome. Right at a Metro that would work ,for my intentions , superbly.

There are a bunch of Google reviews posted over the pst two weeks. So Google may be wrong.

I am 98% sure that any place in Paris showing as "Temporarily Closed" now is, indeed, closed for August holidays.

I would check back the last week in August or first week of September to see what it says.

Here’s what you are missing: there is an excellent cruise boat company straight up the street from the catacombs at Pont Neuf. I believe the name is Vedettes de Pont Neuf. And you’ll find a ton of places to get something quick to eat right there in the Latin Quarter: kabob sandwiches, merguez sandwiches, Chinese, and more. There’s no need to go back to the ET in the middle of a quiet residential area.
The Catacombs are at Denfert Rochereau and Pont Neuf at the top of Blvd Saint Michel is at Metro Saint Michel. Take the 4 metro or the #38 bus.

Bretteau Sebastien is a sandwich shop right next to the Ecole Militaire metro stop. Open until 8 on Sundays.

If you go to Google maps and get to the area you want to find someplace to eat, in the search bar type in “sandwiches near me” for example. Many bakeries have pre-made (and fabulous) sandwiches. Many grocery stores also have them along with pre-made salads.

Be sure to look for the “formule”: drink + sandwich or salad + dessert for a good price.

Be aware that “eating and strolling” is not really a thing in most places in Europe. It’s a common way to spot a tourist. Find a park bench and enjoy your food.

There are three Carrefour City markets between the catacombs and the Garden du Mars. They stay open until 2200. Sunday pickings may be slim that late in the afternoon, but you should be able to find meat, cheese, fruit, etc. and make a decent picnic meal. they also usually have packaged sandwiches, and salads, decent wine and beer, and pretty much anything else you might need.

The Vedettes de Pont Neuf now leave from the end of the Île de la Cité, a 5-10- minute walk from the top of the Latin Quarter. Still much less hassle and more food option than going back to the 7th.

Vedettes du Pont Neuf uses smaller boats than many of the other companies. They also have live commentary in both English and French, sometimes Spanish. They provide a lovely experience.

Benches are available at the Square du Vert Galant next to the stairs down to Vedettes du Pont Neuf.

Or do your stroll through the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens.

I will add that they make wonderful sandwiches and have terrific pastries but they seem to make their sandwiches in limited numbers so your choices on a Sunday evening might be limited. There is a Carrefour City right across the street next to the Ecole Militaire Metro stop and another couple of stores down Rue Cler (an Aldi and a Franprix) but not sure about their Sunday hours.

When are you traveling?

Factory-made supermarket sandwiches on a Sunday night are most probably leftovers. I think better choices are available.
