We are looking for local restaurants off the tourist track. Any suggestions? What are your favorites?
You will get better answers if you post your question in the proper section. -- Destination Q & A - France -- If you want off the tourist track, then don't go to Paris. Paris is full of tourist - even French tourists.
We were in Paris this past April and honestly, everywhere we ate the food was great. Just walk around, read the menu, and pick a place.
Frank is correct, more responses if you post this inquiry in the France Forum instead of the Reviews section.
However; Poulette in the 1st Arrondissement is lovely. Or Bistro de Turnelles…..( not cheap ) but so good! Tres bon!
Thank you for the suggestions and for explaining. This is my first time in the forum and I didn't know what he meant by the proper section. I'll repost it.
This is a very useful site but it does have a structure to it and works very well. So take a few minutes to understand the structure and questions with good background will get you good responses. The responses are from some very experienced travelers who generally have been there and done that. Sometimes, but not often, a Rick Steves' staff member will chime in.
PS It is getting harder and harder to find anything "off the tourist track." Too many of us.
Go to Destination Q and A on the Travel Forum page, use drop down country menu to France (or as you can see, almost anywhere), then repost there.
I like seeing these results too, so following.
I’ll pop one up for you, in Montmartre, Le Cave Gourmande. Best Boeuf Bourguignon ever. One portion is enough for two people if you order extra potatoes 😁 and perhaps start with their excellent warm goat cheese salad (also enough for two). We’ve been three times and not run into English speakers, but it has been a few years…
Here is our favorite. We’ve dined there a dozen times. WARNING: there is one person who had a bad experience there once who is on this board. You will probably see a post from her shortly. There is an English menu here : https://pottoka.fr/
I have never been to Pottoka, but a friend of mine who used to live in its neighborhood absolutely loved it.
Well, I’m just gonna be honest if it is posted on Rick Steves or any other social media travel forum etc. it’s touristy. We are all tourists . If we’re eating there it’s “touristy”. that doesn’t mean it’s not good but it does mean that you’re not going to be the only tourist
