I had rarely heard my husband speak of any hotel with such effusive compliments as he has of Castel-Merle. We returned to the Auberge Castel-Merle again in May because we often dreamed of our 4 previous stays …the gorgeous views, the wonderfully delicious food & the warm hospitality of our hosts, English-speaking Anita and Christopher, who are delighted to share their knowledge of the many cultural and natural sites in the area. We are planning to return again in the future to continue exploring the wealth of pre-historic offerings.
The beautiful and peaceful garden and grounds are welcoming after a hectic day’s sightseeing.; we found ourselves enveloped by nature, perched high above the river valley with extraordinary views of the Vezere River. The traditional stone architecture exudes a charm and romanticism, the rooms & bathrooms are modern & comfortably furnished and the Auberge is located with easy access to the major sites as well as to the valley of the Dordogne. In short, it is always difficult to leave and we look forward to our next visit!
