Courtyard by Marriott Paris Gare de Lyon

The location looks great. I searched rates with the senior discount. There are 3 of traveling in January 2026 and we want 2 rooms. The rate was $238 euros per night for 1 room. Does that sound reasonable? Anyone else stayed there? Thank you!

That’s about the going rate for that location. So you’re not doing bad

I stayed there once because I had a free night, it was fine. It was a nice hotel. I did not like the location and I would not go back. I can do better cash wise at better place hotels in my opinion.

If you search with booking.com, you will find lots of hotels in the area with similar ratings and amenities for much less. citizenM, Novotel, Mercure, among others.

What are your main points of interest? Start searching based on distance in google maps from those places, and go to their own webpages rather than the listings in expedia or booking etc. and see what perks they are offering.

In winter travel it is even more in your best interest to be close to your goals.

Adding a note to say that on the right bank I think it's best to stay no farther out than the Bastille metro. Unless you want to focus on the zoo or the cemetery. Or Belleville.

I always stay at a hotel near the Gare de Lyon because that’s the train station to and from my city. It’s well connected by both bus and metro. Haven’t stayed at the Marriott. It’s just beyond Bastille Bastille.

I have stayed several times around Place de la Republic. The lively neighbourhood is not famous for tourist attractions. Its one big advantage is the Metro station at the Place, serving five separate lines, making commutes to elsewhere very convenient.

The Gare de Lyon is exceptionally well connected to the center of the city via the fast line 1.

Not to mention it has the RER A on a cross-platform transfer to the RER B at Chatelet if you need to go to/ from Gare du Nord ( Eurostar) or Charles de Gaulle airport.

Not to mention it has the fast line 14 if you need to go directly to /from Orly airport, Gare st Lazare ( for Normandy, including Vernon for Monet's house at Giverny, and Bayeux for the D Day beaches).

Not to mention the RER D, and two bus lines that take you nicely along the Left Bank, blvd St Germain, including one that takes you to the Jardin des Plantes.

It's a well connected location. I don't know anything about the hotel itself; I would check reviews on Booking.com, as only people who have stayed at a particular hotel can review hotels on that site.

But to act like Bastille is the end of the known world on the Right Bank is simply incorrect.
