Colleville-sur-Mer - Ocean View Lodging near American Cemetery

I want to spend about 3-4 nights near the American Cemetery and since it's on the ocean, and the rest of my time will be spent inland, I thought this would be a nice opportunity to stay somewhere either ocean front or with an ocean view. Having a kitchen would be nice. Would need parking. I typically like "nice" as in 4-star US hotels, but as long as it's clean and safe - with an amazing view! - I'm fine with simpler accommodations (maybe just not "too" simple, if you know what I mean.).

All advice is welcome!

You might get on the Arromanches forum on tripadvisor.com. It's nearer to the British landing beaches but is a larger town with several ongoing discussions about hotels etc. It's a few miles from the American Cemetery. You might also try the Normandy forum. There are B&B's along the coast although we've never stayed in any. We stay in one closer to Bayeux. Good luck.

How does one find the Rick Steves Normandy forum? I keep clicking and clicking and it's super-confusing to get to the correct spot.

There is no Normandy forum on this site. George may have meant the Normandy forum another travelers website, possibly tripadvisor.com which has discussion forums like this one and also info on places to stay, things to see and do and places to eat.

Nothing can compare to an evocative walk at sunset along Omaha Beach contemplating how somewhere so peaceful was once the sight of such heroic combat. For this, we absolutely love to stay at La Sapiniere on Omaha Beach, an optimal home base for exploring the American Cemetery, Bayeux or a walk along Omaha Beach toward Pointe du Hoc. The vibe is Nantucket Beach cottage cozy. The restaurant has great relaxed eating or a nice place to snuggle up to the huge fire on chilly evenings. Visit the family cider farm and press just up the hill from La Sapiniere. We been back twice in the last three years.
